Dunblane
Museum

Founded in 1943 the Dunblane Museum is situated right at the heart of the
Cathedral City of Dunblane. Few museums can boast that the building in
which they are housed is a museum piece itself. A Grade "A"
Listed Building dating from 1624 when it is recorded as being the house of the
Dean of the Cathedral, and variously a butcher's shop and a chemical laboratory,
until its present "conversion" in 1943.

The six rooms downstairs, two with barrel-vaulted ceilings have much to offer both the
casual visitor, and the more serious student, of any age, with extensive genealogical
information from the burial records of all the Dunblane churches.

To improve and extend these facilities an application has been made to the Heritage
Lottery Fund, and an Appeal launched, to fund a new two-storey
exhibition hall in the courtyard area to the rear of the building.
