BOOKS AND ARTICLES The Museum has a wide collection of books on Scotland and its
ecclesiastical history. These cannot normally be borrowed but constitute a valuable
research facility.
A complete set of "The Journal of the Society of Friends of Dunblane Cathedral"
from its creation in 1930; these contain numerous articles about the church and local
history.
An original newspaper "The Evening Post" of 29th October 1715, reports on the
gathering of the troops in the Stirling area less than a month before the Battle of
Sheriffmuir. There are two pre-Jacobite oak doors, which reputedly carry the marks
made by Highland muskets at this time.
GENEALOGY Records of interments in the Churchyards of the Cathedral, Kilbryde
Chapel and St Mary's Church are held and an extensive cross-reference facility enables
searches for family gravestones. This resource is used by many visitors from abroad,
especially those from the USA, Canada and Australia.
DOCUMENTS There is a large collection of documents, many original, bringing to
life the social and fiscal history of the surrounding area. Some of the oldest
concern Land Sales in the 17th century, many are on vellum or parchment.
